About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as a service user),

I was invited to take part in exercise classes to help with shortness of breath.

This was under Forth Valley NHS.

I Didn’t have my own transport but decided to give it a try, three buses, two hours travel to Crawford Hall in Stirling, with one bus change outside Forth Valley Hospital! It ended after a twice a week, six week course.

The classes were taken by two very knowledgeable Pulmonary Care nurses, easy exercises building up using weights, so easy to continue at home now.

Various useful talks were given, ie by a dietitian, talks on various breathing exercises , both of which were very helpful to me.

The nurses that run the course were very good at helping us all with individual needs, making for many of us getting what we needed with the classes. A great incentive for all to help ourselves keep as healthy as we can.

I will go on with exercising, I am breathing easier, losing some weight and feeling stronger.

I would definitely advise anyone who has the chance, to try these classes and hope the Forth Valley NHS will keep the classes going and get one going nearer the main hospital itself

Thank you
