"Confronting myself and thoughts about myself"

About: Thurrock Services / Inclusion Thurrock Psychological Therapies Service

(as a service user),

I was self medicating with alcohol and drugs and putting myself in dangerous positions at work and in my personal life to feel alive and embracing chaos rather than deal with feeling anxious, depressed and confused. I have been formally diagnosed with ADHD, OCD and Anxiety.

Lorraine took the time to get to know me and help me understand I am not alone and my feelings and thoughts do not define me, they are a by product of my neurodiversity’s and life experiences. I gained a lot of self awareness and confidence through the process and hopefully going forward some peace in soul and mind. It wasn’t easy and there were many times I cancelled appointments or arrived at appointments scared, dreading the thought of being judged, but I pushed on as the alternative would be more internalised mental torture. Lorraine was a true guide and really shone light on my darkness, thank you Lorraine.
