"Great 19 week scan experience!"

About: Royal Jubilee Maternity services / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Had my 19-week scan at the RJMH, Belfast, recently for my third baby. It’s always a daunting scan as there’s the fear of being given bad news. I had good experiences with my previous babies, however this one was very good and deserves complimenting. The Radiographer, Christopher, was reassuring throughout the scan, pointing out my baby's body parts and explaining how everything looked to be developing as it should. I felt like he put a lot of effort into explaining things and his friendly nature totally put me at ease. After my scan I shared my photo with a friend who recognised his name and also commented on how good he had been at her scan too!

Dear Phoenixnc89,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your experience at your 19 week scan.

Fetal anomaly scans can have such mixed emotions particularly around the fear of receiving bad news. I will share your positive experience with the sonography department to ensure that Christopher receives this lovely feedback.

I wish you well in your ongoing pregnancy and once again thank you for sharing such kind words about your experience with your radiographer Christopher.

Kind Regards,

Susanne

Lead Midwife
