"Speech and Language Therapy Team, Stroke Unit, Ninewells"

Our dad was recently admitted to The Acute Stroke Unit in Ninewells . During his stay in the unit we were all very impressed and grateful for the excellent standard of care provided to him from all members of staff.  Everyone went above and beyond to support my dad and his family. 

Dad had a high level of input from the Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) team whilst in the unit due to difficulties he experienced with swallowing and communication. All members of this team were so professional and caring and respectful in their interactions with our dad endeavouring to make his sessions as relevant and as beneficial as possible. 

I was with my dad when Sarah, the lead therapist in the SALT team carried out her initial assessment of my dad’s abilities. I was so impressed with the immediate rapport she made with my dad, making the assessment so personal and relevant to him. My dad’s fondness for Sarah grew from there and during his stay in the unit he made good progress with regard to his speech and swallow which I feel was due to her excellent skills and approach which I observed on several occasions.

Whilst Sarah provided excellent care to my dad she also gave us as a family ongoing advice and support which was very much appreciated and aided us in supporting our dad.
