"No support for complex needs"

About: Adult Mental Health and Learning Disabilities / Adult Community Mental Health Teams

(as the patient),

I have complex mental health: Bipolar disorder and emotionally unstable personality disorder, as well as physical health disabilities. I came to CMHT Loughborough via a new GP, with handover done by my previous mental health team (different city).

I was given a CPN who was not helping me in any shape or form, just couldn’t do anything with them. I would tell the CPN at times I was very low and felt suicidal, and all they wanted to do was pump me full of meds when I explained previously medications have still made me experience manic episodes, and anxiety and depression episodes.

I eventually asked for the CPN to be changed. The new one was even worse. I feel like because I complained it had an effect on my ongoing care.

I waited from September 2024 to April 2025 to finally be seen by a psychiatrist. They were ok, listened and explained some things, and said I will do so deciders skills step by step with my new CPN, as I explained I struggle to manage things on my own. So I was like, ok, there’s a plan in place.

But this new CPN hasn’t done anything with me, I was told I'd get someone from the CBT service but then this staff member left. I then finally had first face to face with this new CPN who was over Therapy for physical. I asked, is that going to stop my physical disabilities? I was informed the therapy is for mental health, is it going to stop your mental health? I didnt find them empathetic or understanding, these interactions actually made my suicidal thoughts worse.

On our next phone call I told them I felt suicidal. Their answer: will call you in a week or two to see how you’re feeling. And of today still no contact.

I feel like a decision has been made and I am no longer going to get any help or have a service provided for me because I won’t allow them to pump me with medication. No help for bipolar, no help for emotionally unstable personality disorder, anxiety. The only good appointment was with the psychiatrist but the one appointment wasn’t enough.

I cannot recommend this service, its been the worse from my experience and  I have been receiving care since 2009.

I am taking matters further.

I have now been told to go to low mental health services that won’t take me on due to complex needs. I just don’t know what to do anymore. I have never experienced this kind of treatment from mental health previously.
