"Made me feel like an actual person"

I had an appointment with Anja to have my contraceptive implant re-inserted.

The last 4 years have been incredibly difficult with infertility treatments and operations and IVF and I was nervous to attend in case there was pressure or push back in relation to my choice to use the implant. All of which I needn't have worried about. When I say that Anja was amazing, I cant even begin to describe just how amazing she was as well as lovely, kind, supportive and informative.

We discussed so many things and I didn't feel rushed as i explained my journey and reasoning.  People like this in the NHS and in ANY occupation where you are patient facing are just so important and sadly I have experienced lesser care in what is meant to be "better" , "private" clinics where I have felt like just a body. 

Anja made me feel like an actual person and I didn't feel silly telling her my thoughts and feeling and to say that made such a difference is an understatement. NEVER have I come away from an appointment feeling so supported and heard. Absolute credit to the department and the NHS! Thank you so much.

Shout out to my Health Care Support Worker, Maggie - I'm sure i heard that correct, apologies if I've got the name wrong. Another wee kind soul who was full of smiles.
