"Seeing daylight after detox"

About: Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / Addiction services CGL Birmingham

(as a service user),

Hi, I received help from CGL, who were very supportive in a build up to my alcohol detox. The group sessions helped me see a more depth insight of how and why I was drinking. The group sessions were great ,listening to other people's journey aswell as mine, makes you think some people are more worse than myself and also not to be judgemental at all. Once I received my my detox, I felt very normal again, very energetic and enthusiastic, which I thought I could never be. The detox lasted me a week and the staff at the detox centre were very caring and understanding, getting meditated at the same time. I didn't think I would see daylight again, but after my detox, I finally did. A big thank you to everyone at CGL.

I would highly recommended anyone cgl to anyone who is struggling with whatever your addiction is, the will point you in the right direction, and if you get that chance, grasp it with both hands, it will be a new start to your life once again.

Dear JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF,

Thank you so much for sharing your story.

My name is Lydia and I am responsible for listening and responding to feedback that is left about our service.

It was lovely to hear about how the support you received both in the lead-up to your detox and during your time at the detox centre helped you rediscover your energy and enthusiasm. Your reflections on the group sessions and the importance of listening without judgment are incredibly valuable, and I am so glad they made a difference for you.

We are very grateful for your kind words and the thanks you've expressed. Your feedback has been shared with the relevant team and was appreciated by all.

Knowing that you would encourage others to reach out to us and take that first step not only means a great deal to us, but is also a testament to your strength and the journey you’ve been on. I hope you feel incredibly proud of everything you have achieved.

We hope your story gives others the hope and motivation they need to begin their own recovery and thank you again for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience.

Wishing you all the very best for your future.

Take care,

Lydia
