"The exemplary care I received"

I had an appointment call today from Dr Goh at Raigmore gynae dept which came as a welcome relief to be told that my complete hysterectomy was successful and no follow up would be required. I had never spoken with him previously but wanted to share my thoughts on the exemplary treatment I have encountered by the NHS staff in Raigmore and beyond. He asked if I could put this in writing to be shared.

All staff below I have had the best possible care and attention from.

My own GP at Dornoch Medical’s vigilant and timely action set the ball in motion for the roller coaster that has been my life for the last five months.

The excellent ultrasound/CT scan staff in Wick who began the process and were understanding and supportive.

Dr Babelli for taking time to talk through all options, permutations and answer my many questions as well as give reassurances.

The MRI staff at Raigmore for the professionalism with which they conducted the process.

Dr McCully and the support staff during the hysteroscopy and thereafter with her calm measured feedback and options going forward. This procedure is not pleasant at all and one I was dreading but the staff and doctor were excellent in their approach.

The admittance staff, and aftercare staff in the Gynae Dept at Raigmore - professional, caring and kind.

The surgical staff, Consultant Archibald and the wonderful anaesthetist who talked me through the op prior to surgery. I cannot remember the female anaesthetists name but she was outstanding in her approach as my BP was sky rocketing in terror!

And at the end of the phone throughout the last few months the fantastic gynae MacMillan cancer nurses with their friendly, knowledgable information and reassurances.

We hear/read daily on the news and elsewhere about how our NHS is on its knees and broken. However I cannot praise or commend the multi staff at all levels that have dealt with me over the last five months. They have supported, reassured, explained and listened to me throughout the whole process and I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart. I felt ‘cared for’ and ‘heard’ from beginning to end.
