"ADHD Diagnosis and treatment"

About: Neurodiversity Services / Doncaster ADHD team

(as a service user),

I was extremely anxious to be assessed for ADHD, however immediately when I met Emma she completely put me at ease with her calm, and welcoming nature. She was so incredibly approachable and kind, and that made it so easy to talk to her without my anxiety taking over.

She really took the time to get to know me as a person, and remembered little things I had told her from my first appointment.

She didn't overwhelm me with information, but let me know everything in a way that was so easy to understand. My assessment was completely stress free and in depth, and the diagnosis has completely lifted a weight of my chest.

In my first review she educated me on types of medication, and informed me about side effects and all the other things in a way that was very simple and not overwhelming at all. She kept me engaged instead of monotonously repeating information.

Overall, she has restored my faith in the mental health service by making me feel seen and heard. I finally feel like I'm making steps towards a better life where I can manage my ADHD thanks to Emma and her amazing service.

Hi I am Jo the Manager for the Team. Firstly can I thank you for taking the time to complete the care opinion form. Your feedback is very important to the team. I will certainly pass on your lovely comments to Emma who I know will be very happy to receive your thoughtful comments. All our nurses within the team recognise that a supportive empathic approach towards supporting a patient on their journey with our service is imperative due to the emotive nature of assessment and treatment. We recognise that you are the expert and you and have lived with your symptoms for a considerable amount of time. Like you mention receiving your diagnosis along with an identified treatment plan of care is very important and life changing for anyone experiencing these symptoms. Good luck with the rest of your journey
