"Steroid injections thumb and wrists"

About: Wrightington Hospital / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

I had constant arthritis  pain in hands so bad it was hard to function.

Resorted to steroid injections- had these previously and it was very painful.

I went into Wrightington to have a repeat of this, dreading it.

To my surprise everyone was lovely.  The doctor made me feel at ease and his skill was unbelievable.  The anaesthetic was effective and I felt very little pain throughout the entire process.  He was so patient and kind and it felt like he was concerned about any discomfort you felt even the slightest.

I asked him if I ever needed this or anything else again please could I see him. Unfortunately, he was leaving as no consultant places were available at Wrightington.

To Wrightington hospital - you are losing one of your finest assets - a competent, caring and knowledge member of your team, who cares about patients, their well-being, their experience and most of all their safety.

This will be a big loss to the people who have had the good fortunate and luck of being treated by him.

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience. I was pleased to read that you were put at ease during the procedure. I will share your kind feedback with the team, who will be very pleased to hear of your positive experience.

Kind regards
