My mother found an extensive lump at the side of her neck over Christmas 2024. Found out at the beginning of February it was cancerous. She had a PET scan, however the results of this were not shared or reported to my mum or family for over two months! She had another biopsy recently (6 months after first discovering the lump! ) to ascertain more information on the type of follicular lymphoma she has. Having also been reassured in March that it was so slow growing there would be 'nothing to worry about-watch and wait' we are now very worried given the delay in a proper diagnosis and indeed treatment. We know services are stretched, but the failure to act quickly where cancer is present is very disappointing- especially having lost our father so horrendous to mesothelioma just a few short months ago.
We hope mum's results don't take the predicted 4-6 weeks which we were told by the doctor in the Elective ward recently too.
