"Lack of staff and safety concerns"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Medical Day Case Unit

(as the patient),

I have a regular 6 weekly infusion on MDU the last 2 treatments which should only take 1 hour 10 minutes, have taken 6 hrs. Down to there only being two trained nurses on the whole ward, I think this is totally not acceptable (this is not a complaint about them) on both occasion they have been reduced to tears.

This last treatment I did not receive my obligatory wrist band, if there was an evacuation/head count would anyone have known l was there? They didn’t have time to put clean linen on the pillows used for inserting our cannula, l wasn’t weighed so was my infusion calculated correctly? All these actions are most definitely red flags regarding the safety of patients.

Not to mention the extortionate charges for parking that accrued for the hours of delays. I do not blame the nursing staff, I see this as a management error. There was a whiteboard on MDU that clearly stated there should be 4 trained nurses at all times.
