"The team were amazing and accommodating"

About: Paediatrics / Acorn Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

Our newborn was having seizures that we reported to our midwife who was doing routine check ups the next day. My daughter then had 4 episodes in a row while the midwife was there which is where she arranged an ambulance. After roughly a week of unknowing it was confirmed by the doctors she had strep Group B and possibly meningitis. After 3 weeks of antibiotics and anti seizures medication we are home and being closely monitored for future development.

The Acon Ward team were amazing and accommodating, they made sure all our needs were satisfied. They answered every question and made sure we understood what was happening.

Dear Uniformnc35

Thank you so much for giving your time to share your experience of your stay with us on Acorn ward - your feedback means so much to us.

You and your daughter have been through such a worrisome time through uncertainty and then confirming your baby had Group B Strep infection with possible meningitis. I am extremely pleased our colleagues were able to give you all the time and support you needed, through such a stressful time. We do very much appreciate the importance of clear communication and supportive care around our patients and families - I am very happy you received this from our wonderful colleagues on Acorn Ward throughout your stay with us.

I hope your daughter is now on the road to a full recovery and you are continued to feel supported now you are home with your daughter.

I will share your lovely comments with everyone on Acorn Ward and the wider Children's unit. I know everyone will be hugely appreciative and happy to hear about your feedback.

Many thanks again.

Kindest regards

Dr Holly
