"Waiting for discharge"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Discharge Lounge Craigavon Area Hospital / Pharmacy

(as a carer),

My father was an inpatient in Craigavon area hospital. He received excellent care, however he experienced an unpleasantly long wait for discharge. He arrived in the discharge lounge at 10.32 am and had to wait until 16.29 to be finally discharged with medication. We understand the discharge letter was the main reason for the extended delay, as well as the pharmacy sending his two prescriptions separately. The discharge lounge staff were very apologetic and professional and did do their best to get us home.

Dear controllerpf95

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

I am very sorry that your Father's discharge took so long. We would not expect this to happen.

I am the Patient Services Manager and would be more than happy for you to email me (catherine.loughlin@southerntrust.hscni.net) or give me a call on the following number to discuss. (Tel: 02837563868).

This will give me the opportunity to investigate why this happened and allow us to make changes to prevent future delays.

Kind regards

Catherine Loughlin (Patient Services Manager -Pharmacy Department SHSCT)

I apologise for the long delay whilst in discharge lounge, this is primarily due to getting letters completed by the medical team prior to dispensing of medication.

I am pleased that your father received excellent care during his stay and I hope that your father continues to improve.

Regards
