"Thank you to all the staff involved"

About: Belfast City Hospital / Radiotherapy Radiology / DeXA

(as a service user),

Following surgery for breast cancer I received an appointment to attend the Cancer Centre at the City hospital. On arrival I found it quite overwhelming.

I was then introduced to Kate who talked me through, in great detail what was involved. She included possible side effects. I received many leaflets as there was so much information. I then had a scan and measurements were noted for when my radiotherapy commenced.

I left feeling a lot more relaxed. I then had my bone density measured in Bangor hospital. This was totally painless and carried out by a very friendly and helpful nurse.  A couple of weeks later I commenced my radiotherapy. I can't think of how to explain this apart from it was amazing. Again the friendly staff made this rare experience much easier to deal with.

Following my last treatment I had to see the nurse for a routine examination. I sat for a long time before I discovered that my details had not been forwarded to the different department. The nursing staff were very apologetic although it wasn't there mistake. I was examined immediately. If you have not been approached after 30 mins. ask the staff. I didn't like to ask as it is a very busy unit.

Thank you to all the staff involved in providing this treatment and running the department.

Dear Ma C,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of attending the Radiotherapy Department at the Cancer Centre, Belfast City Hospital. It's lovely to hear how your interactions made things much easier for you.

We really value input from those using our service as it helps us identify areas where improvement may be needed.

We really appreciate you highlighting the wait you experienced - please be assured I will pass this on to our team and we will do everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Take care and best wishes as you recover from your treatment.

Lindsey
