My dad was blue lighted to Forth Valley Royal Hospital early June. He was very unwell and ended up in ICU. I can't thank all the staff in ICU enough for everything they done for my dad. Unfortunately we were told my dad had an aggressive blood cancer and he was not going to make it, which came as a massive shock.
The care, compassion and dignity that they gave my dad in his last days was amazing they couldn't do enough, not only for him but for us as a family too, everyone was so supportive. We were able to be with him the whole time as we had the relatives room, which made a massive difference and allowed us to spend as much time with him as we wanted with him.
My dad passed away peacefully with us all around him 5 days. Even when my dad passed the kind gestures like his finger prints and tracing of his heart etc was so touching and thoughtful, also we were allowed to spend time with him after he passed too we didnt feel rushed. I really can't speak highly enough for each and every member of staff in the ICU unit they were amazing.
My dad had previously been let down very badly by other services in NHS Forth Valley over the last 2 years and I am so grateful and thankful that on his last days on this earth he got the care and compassion he truly deserved thanks to all the hard work from the ICU team. Each and every member of staff that helped look after my dad was so good but I would like to give a special mention to Dr Tyler, Dr McIlveney, Scott, staff nurses Gemma, Katie and Carrie, palliative care nurse Allana, student nurse Courtney and Dr Lennie one of the trainee anesthetists who helped look after him the night he was going into ICU.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
