If you have a young adult son or daughter with an eating disorder and complex mental health needs avoid this team. They lack in appropriate training and empathy. A high turn over in staff complicates matters further. Calls to the practice are often never returned even when your adult child is in dire crisis and need. And after hours telephone support c/o 111 is woefully inadequate due to poor training in both eating disorders and associated mental health conditions. In frustration the call handlers more often than not suggest you call MIND, BEAT or another charity such as the Samaritans. Is this really appropriate?
My adult child has been in WH care for 3 years now and is far worse today. I have been told by our GP our child is at great risk of long term physical and mental health damage or worse death. Our doctors words not mine.
