"The best district nurses in the country"

I wish to tell you about the care of my local district nurses in Markethill. Just over 25 ago I developed a nasty and deep pilonidal abscess which required 11 operations to finally get it cleared up. Upon discharge from hospital I was in the care of the district nurses. I can honestly say the treatment and aftercare was exceptional. They came each morning to pack the wound and nothing was a problem to them.

 I honestly never thought i would ever have anything like this again as the amount of surgery I had took its toll upon my back and is to this day causing pain and complications. I was wrong!! In September 2024 I noticed things were not right and I found a lump close to my back passage. They were back! Since then I've had a further 11 operations to date (June 25). I've had to get a stoma bag put on. Each time I have been discharged my district nurses were straight on to it. Again I must stress nothing has been a problem to them. Upon my last discharge I received a call from the practice Sister Linda asking how I was and stressing if I needed anything I was just to call them. This really gave me peace of mind. I have a vac system over my wound which requires changing every 3 days. Faithfully the nurses call to change the filter and examine the wound whilst phoning me in-between changes to make sure I'm ok and asking if I need anything. 

I believe firmly we have in Markethill the best district nurses in the country! They rise above the duty of care which they work under. They make me feel a patient not just a number. I firmly believe they must be recognised for there outstanding care.
