I had an epileptic fit at 2 am in the morning, and was rushed to Treliske Hospital, where after a CT scan I was diagnosed as fracturing my pelvis in two places and unable to walk. The following day was discharged with a commode and Zimmer frame. I went home to my disabled husband, who is in a power wheel chair, only to be told by adult social care, who was called by my husband for support, that they could not support me while in my current condition. My doctor and adult social care had me readmitted to hospital. I waited 9 hours for an ambulance that arrived at midnight, the ambulance team was delivering a patient from Bodmin , so was lucky I had an ambulance at all.
I spent the following two weeks in hospital before being discharged back home. The NHS supplied "helpers" who are NOT medically trained, to aid me twice a day, lunch and evening time, to make a cup of tea, help me wash and were allowed to empty my bin but NOT take the refuse to the outside bin (?), not allowed to shower me, even though my husband has a full wet room bathroom. OT finally phoned me and sent a e-mail attachment "get up and go" for me to exercise on my own, unsupported, as he was backed up and would see me in seven weeks time.
Adult social care aware of my condition and my husband's situation and still after two weeks after being discharged, still not receiving any support. My doctor along with my husband's doctor has flagged our situation, as urgent and needing support, but we have been totally ignored and we are left to muddle along unaided or supported. God help the NHS.
"Totally ignored and left to muddle along unsupported"
