I attended the endoscopy unit, the waiting area was small and crowded with lots of people. I felt really anxious and scared as I'd never really had anyone explain what I was about to experience, and a friend had given me such a scare with her own story the night before.
I decided to let the nursing team know I had decided not to go through with it and a lovely nurse called Tracey, took me out the room and spoke to me and listened to how I felt (even while i sobbed about how scared I was) and explained what happens ect. She offered to get a doctor to speak with me and if I decided to leave I still could.
She kept me informed and checked in on me regularly until it was time to go through. Dr Moroni explained more in detail and despite me not being on her case loaf she offered to take over my case to help ease my anxiety and I was incredibly grateful for her. Even just her presence felt reassuring.
I also want to mention the male nurse who did my cannula, I can't quite remember his name but he was great and reassuring and he was also with me during the procedure.
Going into the room for the procedure itself had me quite anxious again but all the staff was lovely and the DR who was working under Dr Moroni who did my exam, was also really nice.I don't remember any of the procedure at all and I'm so grateful for the entire team for how they treated me while I felt the way I did and for getting me through it.
Genuinely would not have went through with it if it was not for Tracey, thank you again! Your a star!
