"Not supported and felt very alone"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / General Medicine (Ward 3C)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was admitted for ongoing medical issues. When we 1st arrived we asked if there was any help or accommodation for my partner as we live 2+ hours away and no one seemed to know or point us in the right direction or give any support with this. We were told to expect to be in hospital over a week but my partner had to go as we couldn’t afford to pay peak prices for that long. So was alone and felt as though I was not supported at all and felt very alone and sometimes stupid for asking for help for my son & felt dismissed on my concerns. Seeing your child in pain isn’t pleasant and although some staff were more than helpful I just felt so alone. Why should I feel stupid for asking questions and wanting answers in ways to best support my son. I’m no doctor but had a gut feeling there was something deeper to this problem that hadn’t been explored.
