"Felt like they didn't want to help"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency New Stobhill Hospital / Elgin Ward New Stobhill Hospital / Mental Health Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

Was a patient of Elgin ward mid February and since I got out in the start of march my physical and mental health has got worse, have got nerve and spinal damage and repeated visits to A and E they said my health is perfect which I know is a lot of rubbish as my heart is going crazy and muscles seizing up. I went to the assessment unit 2 weeks ago was told a lot of rubbish about my worrying about my cat being missing which was rubbish as life isn’t about pets despite my love of cats but I feel they used every trick to make it my mental health is the cause of what is going.

The staff at Elgin were fantastic not there fault but the assessment unit are wrong life isn’t about worrying about animals it’s about friendships and relationships with family and eating and taking my medications which I have done with no effect. I will repeat the staff at Elgin tried there best but the nhs don’t want to help me they want me to pop off

Dear Firejf94

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry to hear how much your physical and mental health have worsened since your stay on Elgin Ward, and how unsupported you’ve felt during your recent visits to A&E and the assessment unit. It’s clear that you’ve been through a very difficult time.

If you could telephone 0141 211 6626 with your name, date of birth and contact telephone number we will ask the team leader from the mental health assessment unit to contact you to address your concerns.

I’m glad to hear that you felt the staff on Elgin Ward did their best to care for you—that’s very much appreciated, and we'll make sure your kind words are passed on to the team.

Thank you

Nicole
