It was a shock to find out that I tested positive for pregnancy as I didn’t think it was possible due to suspected endometriosis and other health conditions I have.
I was definitely not ready as my body was flared up for weeks during the pregnancy and I made the decision to contact my doctor to organise an abortion through the NHS. I had attended all the appointments as asked and decided to go with a surgical abortion.
My appointment was scheduled early morning at the hospital and when I had turned up to day surgery they didn’t have me on record until midday, meaning my partner and I had to wait hours to be seen. The nurses were fantastic and were apologetic about the wait, they made me feel incredibly comfortable during the whole process as this was a very hard decision for myself and my partner.
3 days later, near the end of June I had received a digital letter for an ultrasound Obstetric Dating Scan scheduled for myself in the next couple weeks. I definitely knew this was a mistake as I am still recovering from the surgery. I am shocked and upset that this was sent out to me after the tough decision and it is purely insensitive that this appointment was arranged when I am no longer pregnant. I would have thought it would have been on record that I no longer would be pregnant.
"Insensitive letter"
