I had my last baby (4th) at the Princess Royal Maternity hospital in Glasgow. My planned c-section was overseen by some of the kindest and most professional team I’ve ever encountered. They made my last birth experience truly wonderful, especially the anaesthetists. I was fully informed of every action they were taking and checking in with me constantly for how I was feeling, any problems were immediately resolved. I ended up fainting during the cannula insertion and they tried their best to distract me with asking what my McDonald’s order usually is which made me laugh and really take me out of my head. The midwives on the post partum ward were amazing as well, I’ve unfortunately had unpleasant experiences in the past on the post partum ward but it was totally different this time around. The midwives were incredibly helpful and treated me kindly rather than just another number, I felt heard and genuinely cared about and they were very prompt in addressing any concerns I had with my baby. The paediatrician was very informative and I didn’t feel like they had rushed through anything, my baby had a mild inward turn of their foot and this news was given to me gently with a lot of reassurance that a simple daily massage would be enough to right it. I regret not getting any names but honestly it wasn’t my first thought after having a baby. Overall the team at the hospital exceeded expectation and I’ve been praising them to everyone who will listen, they completed my family in the best way possible.
