My husband went for an iron transfusion and was under the impression that it would take around 30 minutes according to the leaflet he was given. We had friends that had dropped us off, and they got so concerned that we were longer than we said we would be, that they came into the hospital reception to check everything was okay. 

The infusion actually took an hour and we then had to wait for 30 minutes after to check everything was okay. With the tests before the infusion, we were there for 2 hours in total. 

The care was very good, professional, and very friendly. Our issue is more that the information on the leaflet is confusing with the timings it gives. It is twice the length of the time they state.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to the community Ambulatory service. We apologise for the confusion around the treatment time, I have reviewed the patient information leaflet & agree that this says around 30min for infusion + a further 30min for monitoring.

We usually advise to allow up to 2 hours for an appointment to take into account set up, any risk factors & post infusion monitoring. I am sorry that this information was not clearly relayed to you & will work with the team to ensure this is discussed going forward. Aside from this, It is lovely to hear about your positive experience of our friendly staff & positive care you experienced.
