Attended my GP Practice for a smear recently. Disappointed to feel chastised by the staff member for being proactive and booking the appointment ahead of a letter. Given the challenges in health care and number of appointments that are a DNA as well as the cost of sending letters to remind people of procedures, I was disappointed. If however this is the process that the staff member requires to follow, the approach to the conversation could have been far more positive. Attending for an already anxiety provoking experience feeling nervous this approach did not help build any rapport.
Secondly, I was also wishing to clarify if they are to follow Infection, Prevention and Control Guidelines as the staff member who carried out the procedure had gel nails and rings.
