"Positive experience moving to the adult speech and language team"

About: Allied Health Professionals / Speech & Language Therapy

(as a parent/guardian),

My son Matthew has a learning disability and uses a speech device. He left school last year and we transitioned to adult services. Today was his first annual service/safety check of his speech device from the speech and language team since leaving school.

Unfortunately a stressful morning in the home resulted in the device not being in his bag at his day opportunity. I contacted the team to apologise and they were so helpful and arranged to call to my house instead.

The speech and language assistant Wendy was so friendly and professional both in the telephone call and in person. She introduced herself, completed all the checks and showed me all the paperwork to ensure I was happy before signing it.

The device had a small crack. After leaving my house she contacted the therapist and then came back to my house take photographs to save me any hassle sending emails.

This team is new to us but she is a credit to it. Moving to adult services is difficult but such a pleasant experience due to the staff member. Thank you Wendy.
