"Absolutely brilliant"

About: Dementia and Older Persons Mental Health / West Memory assessment service Team

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

My mum has been diagnosed with early dementia and was referred by her GP. Martin, our nurse, was absolutely brilliant and amazing. Since the assessment, we have had numerous follow-up calls and fantastic care from him.

The assessment itself was a bit confusing for my mum, and she felt she didn't gain much from it. However, it really helped us understand the situation better and pointed us towards different resources and support options. I was genuinely impressed.

We had been struggling to understand the diagnosis, as we didn't understand it, but Martin answered all our questions and gave us the support we needed. Now, we have a clear plan and the support we need in place. We can't thank him enough; he is a fantastic nurse and truly amazing.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience of our west Memory assessment service. Martin will welcome your positive feedback. The assessment can be overwhelming of some of our patients and families and I can understand why mum may have felt this way.
