"My son’s admission with appendicitis"

About: Western General Hospital / Emergency Surgical Admissions

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was vomiting and having stomach pain, our GP sent us in to the Western General and we ended up in ward 57, in a side room just to ourselves. We are hopefully going home after a successful operation to remove his appendix. The staff on the ward were all extremely professional but also incredibly kind and caring, every doctor and nurse seemed to know exactly what they were doing and to care about how we were feeling. It was quite a stressful experience to see my son so unwell but they took a lot of the anxiety out of it, I was confident we were getting the best care possible and that they were personally invested in making my son better. I am extremely grateful.

Hello and thank you very much for the positive feedback following your short stay with us on Ward 57. I am happy to hear that you found all the staff to be friendly, caring, supportive and professional in their roles. We always strive to provide a high standard of patient centred care, which extends to the surrounding family, in an attempt to relieve any anxieties associated with an inpatient stay. I am glad to hear that your son is feeling better and hope that he continues to recover well in the comfort of your own home. Many thanks and I will pass the feedback on to the rest of the team. Take care

Thank you for taking the time to give us your positive feedback. I am pleased to hear your son was well cared for in Ward 57 and is now on the road to recovery. I will share this with the Senior Charge Nurse and her team. It is very much appreciated.

Best wishes,
