"5* Staff, 2* organisation"

About: Horton NHS Treatment Centre

attended Cherwell hospital for a spinal epidural. I was booked in on the ward because I (I had told staff during the pre-op telephone calls that i was under the care of the mental health team and would not be able to stay on my own & needed my husband to remain with me as my carer) and they had also put me first on the list to reduce waiting time. My nurse was brilliant. She was increasingly concerned why I hadn't been called. She checked & found out someone had changed the order of the list and not informed the ward. To her credit she kept us informed and handled my stress/anger really well. I was so stressed I threatened to leave - Just as well I had my husband with me! My nurse contacted the theatre team and they agreed to slot me in as soon as possible which they did. I had been told I couldn't drink anything including water for 2 hours before the op by the time I saw consultant to complete consent forms I hadn't had anything to drink for 9 hours, to which he responded it wasn't necessary, sips of water was allowed. Husband went to get some water & admin said no until my husband told them the consultant had ok'd it! My procedure was delayed by 2 1/2 hours my nurse came to my rescue again and arranged for a sandwich & coffee for when I got back to ward to minimise delay in discharge which was much appreciated! The ward staff were brilliant 5** Admin/organisation for rest of the experience 2* A huge thank you to Staff, you were amazing. I just wish I could name you but this review won't allow names to be used.
