"In my view this fabulous lady is Wonderwoman"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Rotherham Neuro Rehab Community Service

(as a service user),

I was referred to Lorna at Park Hill a few months ago to help me manage my Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and I have to say that Lorna has been absolutely fantastic.

She is always professional, courteous and empathetic in her dealings with my husband and myself, and has done so much to help me realise that life hasn’t stopped, it’s more about finding the right way for me through each day.

Lorna came out to do a home assessment and recommended things we had not even thought of, all of which have made life so much easier and given me some independence back but above all some confidence back which is a huge thing both physically and mentally.

Lorna showed me ways to get in and out of bed which conserve my energy, she suggested an additional step at the front of my home… this is a game changer for me as it has enabled me to get in and out independently!! I have new cutlery which means I can cut my own food ( such a small thing but in reality it’s immense as I no longer need to rely on others!).

I cannot stress how big the difference, meeting Lorna, has made to both our lives. She has worked on pacing myself, showing me how to turn around the negatives in my head while celebrating the little victories I am making each day, encouraging me to rest and give myself time to recover rather than pushing through and making myself more fatigued, doing specific exercises to rebuild Neuro pathways but everything done with gentle healing not rushing. Everything we work on is explained, demonstrated, tested to see if it’s for me and if not, we do something else.

In my view this fabulous lady is Wonderwoman and I feel so privileged to have been her patient. Lorna has explained this minefield of MS to my husband throughout as he really hadn’t realised just how difficult even little daily activities can be for me. She’s an excellent ambassador for the department and has my eternal gratitude
