"Hip Clinic Experience"

About: Children's Centre / Baby Hip Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

My second baby remained breeched until 38 weeks gestation, I was aware this would mean she would be referred to the hip clinic for assessment around 6 weeks which I assumed would have taken place in Derry. When I received her appointment letter I was pleasantly surprised that the clinic was to be held in our local hospital in Omagh. This was brilliant! It meant the whole experience was generally much easier for my new-born and I, and practically for childcare for my older child a lot better. It is also a lot more reassuring to attend your local hospital as it’s a lot more familiar.

The ladies we encountered during our appointment were fabulous and I could not fault the care we received. My daughter did not require a brace but if she had I feel the ladies at the Omagh clinic would have been nothing but supportive both during that appointment and any subsequent appointments we would have required. I hope the hip clinic in omagh remains as it is truly an invaluable resource.
