I had my first appointment at causeway hospital after registering my appointment. We done all the usual information like family history etc. My mental health was discussed and I made it clear I hadn't needed to see anyone in years since I had received my autism diagnosis.
I thought we were on the same page, to end up receiving a phone call later on that day from the mental health team offering me an urgent appointment. Obviously I was very confused as to why this was happening and I politely told them I didn't require their services. Turns out the member of staff I'd spoken to at the hospital had gone behind my back and made it sound like I was in desperate need of mental health help and of course made out as if this was discussed with me and I had given them the go ahead, which absolutely did not happen.
It's funny because there's people actually in need of these appointments and aren't getting offered same day emergency appointments.
Another incident a few months later I had ended up in A&E after I was advised by doctor on call. I never go to the hospital and certainly don't abuse the system, I rarely even see my GP.
The hospital decided to put me behind a door to a room in which the doctors like to chat. I woke up in the early hours of the morning to hear 2 of these doctors say absolutely disgusting things about me which I found greatly upsetting. I then spent the remainder of my day very upset and disgusted with how these doctors were behaving.
If you're going to be disgusting regarding your patients, don't place them behind the door where everything can be heard! I hate to imagine what else is being said. I was saddened by the simple lack of compassion for people.
