"Getting my life back on track"

About: Adult Mental Health and Learning Disabilities / Adult Psychological Therapy Services (APTS)

(as the patient),

I spent the past few months ruminating over terrible things I did in the past, feeling constant guilt, shame, anxiety and depression. I have had OCD now for 18+ years and wasted a lot of my life on this but I decided- no more.

I saw Declan, a mental health nurse who started me on antidepressant therapy and encouraged me to let go of the past which can't be changed. He gave me useful advice to take my life forward rather than drifting aimlessly.

I didn't always act on his advice but he could still see the progress I made and kept believing in me which meant a lot. He has given me the tools I need to build a better life going forward, so it's up to me now to love myself and use these tools in order to become the best version of me.
