"Awful service - Can't rearrange a dermatology…"

The hospital has cancelled my husband's dermatology appointment on three occasions over the last 2 years! His 4th appointment needs to be cancelled as he has an emergency appt at another hospital. Trying to do this and re-organize is a nightmare. On the 19th I rang the appointments team to cancel the appointment and re-arrange. The team couldn't do this but said they would email dermatology and someone would get back to me by the 23rd. Meanwhile my husband continued to receive reminders for his appointment On the 27th. On the afternoon of the 23rd I rang dermatology. Initially I just got a message saying they were busy and to call back later. I did ! I was number 4 in the queue for more than half an hour. I eventually got to number 2 in the queue where I remained for sometime. Having been on the phone for 1 hour, at 4.20pm a message came on the line to the effect that dermatology was now closed and call back tomorrow. I've tried to call this morning but a message says staff are busy and to call back later. The NHS complains that each lost appointment costs money but when you try to ensure they are notified no one answers the phone ! What a ridiculous waste of my time too.
