"The care was above and beyond"

About: St Johns Hospice / St John's Hospice (inpatient)

(as a relative),

My sister-in-law was transferred to St John’s hospice at the beginning of march, she was extremely apprehensive as never been in a hospice before, she was welcomed as soon as she came through the door, all staff introduced themselves, made her feel so relaxed.

My sister-in-law is the most selfless positive person l have known. Her aim was to have rehabilitation.

To enable her to go home, The care from the St John’s hospice team, was above and beyond, Emily physio and Stacy managed to get her out of bed and sat in a comfy chair, she had dropped foot, and Stacy got her a boot, to help with rehabilitation, ordered a wheelchair, with adaptions,

She was always made comfortable, her pain controlled, maintained her dignity and always given respect.

At times she was very poorly, but did manage to get back home at the end of may.

Stacy the occupational therapist, arranged home visits, hoist trained 5 of the family, arranged all the equipment, enabling my sister-in-law to carry out her wish, Stacy visited her at home.

She did come back into the hospice on mid June as her health deteriorated,

Once again we all felt she came back to the right place, people here are so caring very professional, and understanding, of not only the patients, but also family and friends, A massive thank you to you all

Hi whispernw64

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on the care which was provided to your' sister-in-law. The staff always appreciate it when they receive the kind thoughts about the care they have provided as helps give us greater job satisfaction. I'm also pleased that the team were able to provide the care, compassion and dignity which she deserved.

I will pass on your' thoughts to the team at our next team meeting, and also will ensure that Stacey and Emily are aware of your' very kind words too.

Thanks again

Barry (Hospice Ward Manager)
