"It's the little touches they do"

About: Endocrinology ward / Ward 7D

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Ward 7D Endocrinology. The day team I saw are excellent and the care given is second to none. In particular Nena, Lynn, Abbie and Stacy are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for these ladies. They balance the fine line of professionalism along with caring. Little touches such as ensuring we are eating enough or drinking enough water. Taking time to ask how we are doing and really listening. Even if it is changing our sheets for the third time that day or cleaning 'accidents' in the toilet their characters never change and they go out of their way to reassure the patient. In particular with the elderly on the ward these nurses exemplify nursing at its best. One elderly person never wants to eat. Each of those named will encourage them by fetching different items and encourage them to make a choice. They then feed and talk to them like a person not an elderly person who is a hindrance.

Whoever taught these staff should be proud. Even the domestic staff on the ward are helpful and pleasant in particular Ciaran.

The some staff I saw for this ward could be better and I think the use of agency staff should be re-considered.
