"My father's treatment"

About: District Nursing Teams / District Nursing Team - Kilmarnock

(as a relative),

My father was taken into hospital in the early hours by paramedics to be treated for a chest infection.

He had a fever, heavy cough, suffering hallucinations and had a very weak voice.

Two district nurses attended at the home address and were apprised of the circumstances.

One of the nurses had previously visited my father to dress his sores.

This nurse stated that when they had attended to my father on that day, they were of the opinion that he had pneumonia.

When challenged as to why they saw fit to leave and take no further action -  ie request GP attendance or summon ambulance - they remained absolute that they had done no wrong and apportioned blame on my family.

thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, which clearly was a very upsetting time for you

I am sorry that your experience with the District Nursing Team has left you feeling disappointed in the care delivered, this is not something we like to hear.

Your account of the situation is not the experience we want our patients to receive, I am sorry you have been left feeling like this.

After you posted this account I have discussed with the District Nursing Team and I will be happy to meet with you and talk this through. Please contact me directly and I will make sure this arranged.
