I received prenatal and postnatal care from the maternity service at The New Victoria Hospital (clinic J). I was fortunate to have the same midwife (Louise) throughout apart from one visit, I feel this continuity of care was not only reassuring to myself and my parents but added to the overall quality of care received by the service. It also allowed us to build rapport with Louise and gave us confidence in asking questions.
I felt we received prompt and efficient care throughout, any issues with my and my baby's health were highlighted and dealt with appropriately.
There was a very high standard of communication, friendliness and professionalism displayed throughout by Louise and the wider team. We were signed posted to services within and outwith GGC which was helpful.
We were able to attend the antenatal classes run out of the same clinic which was very insightful.
At all times I felt the service concentrated on our welfare and not on time-frames, targets or other factors. This was particularly shown in the postnatal part of our journey as we were kept on over the average 10days due to my baby's jaundice and reduced weight. We were only discharged from the service after the issues improved and the Health Visitor was available to support.
