Finding your way

Finding your way

I had a meeting with the organisation with reference to the above and received support on how to tackle personal issues and ways of changing my behaviours and mind set to alcohol.  Both myself and the advisor discussed ways of dealing with everyday worries that had led me to alcohol and ways to deal with problems by finding alternative ways i.e hobbies, activities which I found very helpful.  I also learned a little about myself and the reasons for these behaviours which was to do with trauma I had felt as a child and growing up to finally finding myself in a job that I was bullied out of.  In addition to this I have now attended AA sessions which I found very useful in hearing about other peoples stories and reading their literature was of a great help.  Also I have had a sponsor who I keep in touch with who has encouraged me.

Dear Adlin843

Thank you for sharing such an honest reflection.

My name is Lydia and I am responsible for listening and responding to people’s feedback.

It’s clear that you and your advisor worked closely and thoughtfully to create a path forward which was so lovely to hear as it is so important that people are involved in the plans that are made for their treatment and support.

Identifying the root causes of behaviour, especially when they stem from past trauma and difficult life experiences, takes immense courage. It’s not easy to confront those parts of ourselves, but doing so is such a crucial step in healing and growth. Your openness to exploring these issues and your willingness to find healthier ways to cope, like engaging in hobbies and activities is truly commendable.

Your commitment to attending AA meetings and connecting with a sponsor shows how seriously you’re taking your recovery. Hearing others’ stories and finding strength in shared experiences can be incredibly grounding, and it’s wonderful to hear how much the literature and community have supported you.

You’ve already come so far, and your continued dedication is something to be proud of. I have shared your words with the the relevant teams which were appreciated by all who read them.

Thank you once again for reaching out to us.

Best wishes and take care,

Lydia
