"We left not knowing what to do or think!"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a parent/guardian),

My son visited Pilgrim Hospital Ophthalmology.

The consultant was extremely rude and arrogant. They didn't ask why we were there and what the problem was. I tried to tell them why the GP had referred my son but they kept interrupting me and dismissing the issue.

Towards the end of the appointment the consultant's phone rang and they answered it, cutting me off from the conversation. There was a student doctor in the room and I think they were as dumfounded as I was.

My son has waited for approximately 1 year to be seen. We left not knowing what to do or think!

Hi

Thank you for taking the time to complete the feedback. We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience on this occasion when you attended an appointment for your son. We would like the opportunity to make things right as this is not the standard of practice we adhere to within the department. Could you contact our PALS team and quote CO1372051 with your details so that we can discuss what should have happened for your son's visit. PALS can be contacted via ulth.pals@nhs.net

Kind Regards

Miss A Kumar

Consultant Ophthalmologist & Ophthalmic Clinical Lead, Pilgrim Hospital
