"Problem nose bleed"

About: Southport and Formby District General Hospital

I was bought to A & E Southport Hospital in an Ambulance, Tuesday 17 June 2025, with a severe nose bleed, a result of taking blood thinners, I was seen very quickly, I had stopped bleeding so was discharged with some nose cream.

Before I reached the bus stop my nose started bleeding again. I went back to A & E, I was again seen very quickly, the young man who dealt with me couldn't find the site of the bleed and concluded it was at the back of my nose, he put some nasal balloons up my nose and arranged for me to go to Aintree Hospital the next day, then sent me home, I travelled by bus back to Southport with the balloons up my nose. On Wednesday 18 June 2025, I travelled by train to Aintree arriving at 11.00am, still with the balloons up my nose, no one was expecting me, after some delay I was seen, questions asked, 'Why was I sent home with the balloons in my nose, and why wasn't I kept in Southport Hospital for 24 hours?' I couldn't answer those questions, they removed the balloons, my nose wasn't bleeding they couldnt cauterise it because they couldn't see where the blood was coming from, if I had bled when the balloons were removed I would have had fresh balloon inserted and have been admitted for 24hrs, they gave me some more cream and sent me home, I caught the train and I arrived home at 8.00pm, in my opinion and that of Aintree SAU, I, 1. I should have been kept in Southport Hospital for 24hrs with the balloons in my nose, not sent home. 2. There should have been better communication between Southport Hospital and Aintree Hospital that way I would not have been left for three quarters of an hour, because system was down, not knowing if I would be seen or not.

The nasal balloons are very uncomfortable, I was in pain the whole of Tuesday night, without instructions as to whether I could take pain killers I resorted to Google, which said I could take Paracetamol, I took two to no effect. I am 79 years old with heart problems, trauma like this is not good. Situations where it appears left and right hand aren't in sync don't help, should I have been kept in Hospital? Not my call, Aintree Hospital were clear, if I were in their Hospital I would have been, I now pray daily that I won't bleed again.
