"A Gentle Request for More Compassionate Care at…"

About: City Square Medical Group

Whenever I visit the GP, I often feel that the reception staff treat me in a somewhat aggressive manner. It seems they forget that people who come here aren’t visiting for leisure—everyone is here because they are dealing with some kind of pain or discomfort. Would it be too much to ask for a little kindness in their words?

I understand that we, as patients, don’t always behave rationally. But when the average person is treated as if they’re an adversary, those of us who try to be polite and understanding end up leaving with heavy hearts.

I am a hypertension patient and take regular medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. Last night, my cholesterol medicine ran out. I went to the reception with a simple request—to inform the doctor that my prescription had run out, hoping they might prepare a new one by today. Instead of listening, the receptionist dismissed me, stating that it could take up to 48 hours (which I already knew). A little empathy from their side could prevent so much unnecessary stress for patients like me.

I’m not complaining, but it’s disheartening when they assume every patient is their enemy. This is why I usually avoid going to the GP unless absolutely necessary. I hope they take this feedback into consideration. A little kindness can go a long way in making patients feel cared for.

Thank you for listening.
