"Unable to find a GP"

About: General practices in Forth Valley

(as a service user),

My partner is currently 9 months  pregnant. She's 2 days past her due date.  We have been fighting for the last 2 months of her pregnancy to get her into a GP, they all have the same excuse, they're not taking patients on and her last GP kicked her out as she moved just over the border of their catchment area.

My partner is nearly out of her daily iron meds she needs to take and other meds and no seems to care. I need someone to contact me with a solution, since the staff I have spoken to have not been helpful and have said she would be fine without her tablets.

I'm sorry, I think that is bang out of order. Reception staff are not a nurse, doctor of midwife, they have only been trained to ask basic questions.

I expect a response as a matter of urgency.

We have also tried a number that's meant to place or help her get into a GP. That have said they can’t help.

Dear Chris2736281047-910173749201

Thank you for sharing your partner's experience with us and I know this will be such an anxious time for you both and I do hope that your partner is well.

I am concerned that your partner has been unable to register with a GP, particularly so late on in her pregnancy. I can advise that if you contact GP Practitioner Services based in Edinburgh they will be able to allocate a GP to your partner. The contact telephone number is 0345 300 1024, or you can alternatively e-mail, nss.psdenquiries-general@nhs.scot. I am unsure if this is who you contacted in the past.

If you are still experiencing difficulties in registering with a GP Practice, I would be grateful if you could please share with me you and your partners details at caroline.logan@nhs.scot and I can contact someone within our Maternity Team to obtain advice and support.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind Regards

Caroline
