I had to go to A&E at the BRI recently due to an acute mental health crisis, and was held on an observation ward for 12 hours.
I felt safe and cared for there, and the hospital staff were very kind and professional. I was seen quite quickly by the mental health team. I felt like I had some input into my care, and had a choice about what happened to me (re - being discharged to the home crisis resolution team), and agreed with the decisions made about my care.
I appreciate that the hospital staff do a very difficult and stressful job, and am grateful for the care that I received during a terrifying time.
