"Recognition for excellent care"

About: Victoria Hospital / Out of Hours

(as a service user),

I write to please have Anne- Nurse Practitioner, out of hours at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy recognised for her outstanding care.

I had a terrible week with my gynaecological health and a very complex problem and was seen by Anne. She respected my choice to have my Mum come into the consultation with me. Anne included her and was very understanding.

Anne took a very in depth assessment, listened to me, validated my feelings, showed empathy and compassion.

Anne came up with a plan in partnership with me it’s the first time I’ve felt included in the decision making process in a long time. Rather than previous consultations in health where I’ve felt my feelings didn’t matter and that I didn’t matter. Something I’ve had to work on with a Psychologist. I can’t remember the last time someone has went through my medication and not been fixated on my mental health medication. Anne accepted my explanation of prescribed for complex trauma, Noted this and moved on to the active problem. I felt like I was seen as a person rather than a diagnosis.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Anne and hope she receives recognition for her outstanding care. She clearly cares about what she does. Her communication skills, empathy, compassion, holistic and first class care.

Anne made a positive impact on my life and restored my value of myself that I and my feelings matter.
