"New Victoria Hospital Glasgow Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Breathing and lung problems (Respiratory)

(as the patient),

I went to the classes to seek more knowledge about my C.O.P.D,

I was keen to learn how to exercise and not be afraid of getting too breathless.

Also to get as fit as I could to help me stay strong .

I really enjoyed the classes, Doreen ,Sharon  and Joyce showed me how to manage my breathing and took us all through each week to get stronger and fitter,

We had information on knowing the signs of when to stop , This is really helpful and made me aware of my limitations, gradual increase in the exercise program at a steady pace was amazing to see the difference from week 1 to week 8 , It is not a mad fast extreme class so don't be frightened to give it a try.

We had group talks about managing daily activities learn to know your own body and listen to it , good talk on chest clearance , food and nutrition , breathing techniques , relaxation techniques , coping with anxiety and panic , all these talks were really helpful .

I did the exercise at home as requested , the class motivated me to really take it on board and I loved it, The group was lovely, we all had our individual issues and went at our own pace , It was not a competition to see who was the fittest , it was friendly and I enjoyed the company . I will keep up my program at home as I now have the tools to stay strong , all the education talks have shown me how to manage my condition on a better level . I would recommend the classes to anyone.

Thank you to the team at the New Victoria Hospital Glasgow
