"Recent visit to A&E"

About: York Hospital / Accident and emergency York Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was subject to a severe case of hayfever, eyes almost swollen shut. I administered antihistamines, but they were slow to work. I took him to A&E at York Royal. The staff on duty were amazing; Jason, Meghan and Sam put him at ease, made jokes, made him laugh. They took a shy and frightened little boy (and his nervous older brother), and made him feel at ease. The Paediatric ED are a credit, I can't say enough positive things about them

Thank you so much for sharing this. It really sounds like it was a worrying moment for you and your son, and for his older brother as well, so we are genuinely pleased to hear that Jason, Meghan and Sam were able to step in with care, kindness, and a bit of humour to help put everyone at ease.

It means a lot to us to know that our Paediatric ED team made such a difference that day. They work incredibly hard and feedback like yours really lifts spirits. We will make sure they see your kind words.

Wishing your son a smooth recovery and hoping hayfever takes it a bit easier on him for the rest of the season.

Warm wishes,
Patient Experience Team
