I visited A&E on the advice of my GP. Once triaged I got a feeling that the nurse was not listening to what I was saying. She took a call to triage another person whilst I was there. I was sent back to the waiting room. After bloods and waiting for a further 3 hours the Doctor called me to say my bloods were all normal, that they would not do anything in relation to my pending surgery and that I should just follow up with my GP.
I did not attend A&E to discuss my surgery but with a different problem entirely. Also the surgery the doctor discussed is not the surgery I am waiting for, leading me to believe the correct notes were not being read. I was not examined during my time there and offered no solution to my complaint, other than to refer back to my GP who sent me there in the first place. I was sent to the waiting area to get obs done before I left and was discharged with a dangerously high blood pressure reading of 177/103.
I returned to A&E later that same evening on the advice of friends and family with medical experience, as symptoms had worsened and there was concern at the high blood pressure reading. The staff were more helpful this time round. I was triaged immediately and sent for further blood tests, although wait times are still long.
