In all honesty I didn't see what Occupational Therapy would do for me due to being previously referred to the department and not feeling much benefit. I do think it takes the right person on the same wavelength to "get" me but upon meeting Laura I quickly found out that it would do a lot for me and she was the right fit to help make positive changes.
Laura has helped me realise I can do things I previously thought I couldn't do. We worked together to help create daily non-negotiables. Laura has given me the tools and the confidence in my ability to cope with low mood and high pain days, ie setting a timer to do what I need to do without burning myself out (thanks to Roo for that with her Whiz around Wednesdays!). Involving simple self care such as spending more meaningful time doing skincare, or reading books instead of sitting on my phone has helped improve my mood and motivation to do things drastically.
Laura has helped encourage me to be more mobile, from using my walking pad, and going downstairs on a more regular basis, to simple stretches to help with aches and pains.
I would like to send my genuine thanks to Laura for all her help, motivation and encouragement over the last few months.
